Why Pledge Jobs

A Market No Ad Budget Can Buy

URBAL towns are not open markets. Only pledged businesses appear in the steward preference UI. Every resident has voted for your business before you open. Brand awareness, customer acquisition, and foot traffic costs collapse to zero.

Pre-selected by residents

Before the town is built, every steward who selects your brand in the pledge UI is a pre-committed customer. You know your demand before you sign a single lease.

No commuter churn

Every URBAL resident lives, works, and spends within one square mile. Your customer base doesn't drive past — it lives next door. Repeat purchase rates in walkable communities run 3–5× conventional retail.

Permanent 0% town sales tax

Businesses that pledge jobs for a specific town pay 0% town sales tax — recorded on Hyperledger and permanent. Late entrants pay the Quiet Council-set rate (3–8%).

Live demand signal before you commit

The URBAL biz dev team shows you real Apache Pinot data: how many pledgers want your brand, in which towns, with what household income distribution — before you pledge a single dollar.

The Pledge Process

Four Steps to Earning Your Spot

01

Tag or get tagged

Your brand appears on URBAL's demand dashboard when pledgers tag you on Instagram, TikTok, or X. High tag volume triggers automatic biz dev outreach from the URBAL team via Twenty CRM.

02

See the demand data

URBAL shares live Apache Pinot data: exact pledger count, town preference, and demographic breakdown. You negotiate from evidence, not assumptions.

03

Submit the job pledge

File a job pledge form: number of jobs (1–49), job types, and $7,500/job pledge. Payment is non-refundable and routes directly to the Sovereign Wealth Fund — not to construction escrow.

04

Appear in the UI. Earn votes.

Your brand appears in the pledge preference UI immediately. Pre-matched to every pledger who already tagged or voted for you. Pledger votes count for up to 25 of the 100-point selection score.

How Businesses Are Selected

100 Points. Three Levers.

The selection score prevents any business from simply buying its way into the town. Money buys 40 points maximum. The other 60 are earned through resident preference and reward quality.

Job pledge amount

Capped at $367,500 (49 jobs × $7,500). The only component money can directly purchase — and it's capped.

Physical Location

The Outer Wall — Your Dedicated Side

Employers occupy dedicated sides of the URB outer wall. Each URB has 4 sides — 2 are reserved for employers, 2 for retail. The employer sides are purpose-built for office, production, and light-industrial uses, with direct access to the car-free town interior.

Outer Wall — Employer Sides

2 of 4 sides per URB · Annual re-competition

Primary employer location. Each URB hosts 2 competing employers on dedicated outer wall sides. Annual re-competition — high-performing employers earn automatic renewal. Underperformers go to the December ballot.

Spice Strips — Small Business

24 corridors · 489 buildings · Narrow (40 ft) and Wide (80 ft)

The commercial heart of the town. 24 named corridors running between URB blocks. Small format cafés and kiosks (10×10 ft) to cultural anchor venues (80×80 ft, 4 stories). Competed annually via Quiet Council.

Medical and professional businesses compete for 22 inner wall clinic buildings and 122 inner wall commercial buildings. All locations are re-competed annually — no legacy leases.
